In the 300-year-old Georgian house, I had the opportunity to get a close look at Christo's early works before he collaborated with Jean-Claude. Based on everyday objects, covered in fabric or plastic and bound with rope or twine, these works foreshadow the artist's later style of large-scale public projects.

I recorded my reflections and feelings during the visit:
I. A dialogue between art and environment:
Christo's work creates an interesting dialogue with the historic house. The artworks are masked, making otherwise mundane objects mysterious and emphasising their connection to their surroundings.

2. The themes of movement and migration:
The themes of movement, migration and conservation in the artwork echo Christo's status as a political refugee and his experience of multiple migrations. This is not only a reflection of personal experience, but also an exploration of historical and cultural mobility.

3. The fusion of history and modernity:
The location of the exhibition itself, a historic home that has been home to generations of immigrant families, together with Christo's work, demonstrates the fusion of history and modern art. This combination made me think about how art can convey different meanings in different cultural and temporal contexts.

4. Masking and revealing:
Christo's masking technique not only hides the physical form of the object, but also reveals the deeper meaning hidden beneath the surface. This approach sparked my curiosity about the deeper stories and symbolism behind seemingly everyday objects.

The experience of viewing the exhibition was not only a visual treat, but also an opportunity for deep reflection and introspection; Christo's early works, combined with the historic Spitalfields house, provided me with a unique perspective to explore the complex relationship between art, history, culture and personal identity. This experience will have a profound impact on my artistic understanding and creative practice.
