To ensure the linoleum would fit perfectly on the surface of my design (the disc), I used the SMASH function in Rhino to create an unfolded model of the surface area. I printed the model on A3 paper, but during the process, I noticed a size discrepancy, mainly because of the material thickness, which affected the accuracy of the unfolded area.
To fix this, I took multiple measurements of the actual object and adjusted the shape and size in the AI file. After several tries, I made sure that the linoleum cut by the CNC would fit and wrap around the MDF surface accurately.
Conclusion:
After repeated measurements and adjustments, I was able to resolve the size issue. Moving forward, I plan to further improve the accuracy of the unfolding process by refining my use of software tools and measurement methods. I may also explore using more precise tools to minimize the need for manual adjustments.
