I was deeply inspired by my visit to Bodleian Libraries. The docent gave a very clear presentation on the history of the museum, its collections and their development. The collection is wide-ranging, covering crafts from different countries, different eras and different styles. I was particularly attracted to the handicrafts in the museum, which not only showed a wide variety of containers, such as ceramics, weavings or a combination of different crafts, but also demonstrated the infinite possibilities of human creativity. One of the exhibits that stood out to me was a bitters bottles covered in glass beads, which is not only a container but also a work of art.

This visit gave me new ideas about my Object to Object work. I began to wonder if I could incorporate similar combinations of materials and cultural elements into my work to enrich its form and content.

I. Formal Enrichment: The artefacts at Bodleian Libraries demonstrate a fusion of many forms and styles. I can try to combine different physical forms in my work, such as combining weaving and ceramics to create a unique visual and tactile experience.

2.the way of connecting the parts. How to combine different parts or materials together skilfully is something I need to consider in my creative process. From the design of the Bitter Flavour Bottle, I see the possibility of connecting different materials. Considering the different characteristics of each material, what other methods of connection are there besides glue? (e.g. mortise and tenon construction)

3.Inspiration of Visual Colour Matching: The colours and textures of various handicrafts give me new inspiration about colour matching and visual effects. The use of glass beads, in particular, demonstrates how colour can enhance the appeal of a piece. So how do I make myself visually appealing and at the same time harmonious? What means to enrich the texture and grain?

4.Integration of culture and history: These handicrafts are not only functional objects, but also carry rich cultural and historical information. How do I add depth to my Object to Object work? Is it possible to present the development of craftsmanship through the combination of techniques from different periods? (e.g. the combination of 3d printing and weaving)
