Contextual research workshop- Plastics

Today for plastics systematically learnt about research methods that can be applied in my crp. bridget asked us to do research in small groups for a specific area of plastics. Such as types of plastics, use of plastics, alternatives to plastics, development of plastics and so on. The images and information gathered were summarised and analysed to assist us in completing a critical research paper.

Our group was assigned the research task on types of plastic. I used a mind mapping approach to research on soft plastics from a number of dimensions, including the types of plastics (what/what type), how they dispose of them, how to use them, how to identify them and their characteristics. By collecting images and information, I endeavoured to understand the characteristics and uses of different types of plastics, as well as exploring their environmental impacts. Besides, I thought about how to use the results of this research? The process of translating the research findings into a visual critical essay required me to consider how I could incorporate case studies and theories to support my ideas.

Through this systematic research study on plastics, I have not only learnt how to collect and analyse information in a systematic way, but I have also gained a deeper understanding of plastics and environmental impacts, which I will use in the future by applying different research methods and methods of analysing data to my crp.
